Thank you to our members who joined us for our Christmas Catch Up on Zoom for the last meeting of 2020. It was exciting to hold our first Zoom meeting as an association and lovely to see everyone.
After a general introduction from our co-Chair, James Rendell, and some announcements that we have been waiting to make, we broke off into breakout rooms to talk about the positives that have come out of the pandemic year.
An interesting discussion about the Sodbury and Yate Business Association and its presence in our local community arose. Members commented that SYBA is an “open, friendly, non-judgmental group” with a focus on building long term relationships in a comfortable and productive environment.
Members also said that SYBA has always been an informative association where business is not necessarily the main focus of meeting up. However, getting to know each other inevitably brings business in the long term making it, therefore, “a trusted platform to do business”.
Members discussed the fact that SYBA is a touchpoint with the S.Glos Economic Development Team. This means that members not only get access to information, but can also provide feedback.
The positive side of the Covid-19 situation included bringing people together, supporting clients, ingenuity and creativity at home and in business, refocusing, focusing on the important things, family time and picking up new skills.
If you would like to find out more about belonging to a local business group, join us at our next meeting, or sign up for our newsletter.
